The USPS Announces the Release of a Special Edition Stamp Booklet to Commemorate 250 Years of National Service

USPS is doing its best to maintain a brave face and carry on with business as usual despite impending changes that may well convert its entire organizational structure to a private sector entity from that of an independent federal agency of the executive branch.

This month, against such a backdrop of future uncertainty, arrives the 250th milestone anniversary of the United States Postal Service, founded in July 2025 by our forefather and first Postmaster General, Benjamin Franklin.

To celebrate, the USPS has scheduled a release of 32-page illustrated Forever stamps, “250 Years of Delivering”, constructed of “20 interconnected stamps representing the ubiquitous presence of USPS throughout the years — and the vital role the postal system plays in connecting Americans.”[2]

From the June 23rd, 2025, press release from the USPS [1], it is noted that “although the United States only makes up 4 percent of the world’s population, the U.S. Postal Service handles 44 percent of mail across the entire globe.”
