LOCAL USPS UNION PROTESTS IN RHINEBECK (JUNE 2025)

“The APWU asks its members and the public to ‘Stand in solidarity with APWU. Hands off our public Postal Service!”

Hosted by the New York State AFL-CIO, a protest rally at the Rhinebeck Post Office took place on June 3rd. You might have missed it, so here is what all the fuss is about:

The APWU (American Postal Workers Union) has stepped up its voice to organize protests and rallies on behalf of its members while negotiations were pending to reach a collective bargaining agreement with the Postal Service.

Days later, on June 6, 2025, a Collective Bargaining Agreement between the AW and the USPS was confirmed by APWU President and Lead Negotiator Mark Dimondstein (ref: https://apwu.org/news/contract-contract-negotiations/big-news-apwu-usps-reach-tentative-agreement-new-union-contract#).

Nonetheless, labor tensions remain for the union and its members as President Trump has not backed off his intentions to privatize the United States Postal Service.

Earlier this year, on March 20th, the APWU staged a “National Day of Action” declaring on behalf of its members, “Hands Off Our Public Postal Service – The U.S. Mail Is Not for Sale!”
