Antique Glass Mailbox in Montgomery NY

Mailbox Monday!

We never saw one before until last year, but apparently this is a “thing”.
Here is — as best we can tell – an American 1900s Glass Visible Mailbox produced by the George F. Collins & Company out of Sapulpa, OK.
While we’re not historians, it’s safe to say that George Collins and the eventual Bartlett-Collins Glass Company had a corner on this unique type of mailbox market (however, we did manage to find some others, but not many!).
The idea was, and still is, we suppose, that a homeowner could see his mail upon arrival at home after work. Nothing to see = no mail today.
